RTSP INDONESIA has detected an earthquake with the following preliminary
information:

Magnitude: 7.1 Mwp
Depth: 83km
Date: 24 Oct 2012
Origin Time: 0045 UTC
Latitude: 11.09N
Longitude: 86.48W
Location: NearCoastofNicaragua

2. EVALUATION
RTSP INDONESIA is evaluating this earthquake to determine if a tsunami has
been generated.

3. ADVICE
This bulletin is being issued as advice. Only national/state/local authorities
and disaster management officers have the authority to make decisions regarding
the official threat and warning status in their coastal areas and any action to
be taken in response.

information becomes available.

RTSP INDIA detected an earthquake with the following preliminary information:

Magnitude: 6.8 Mw(mB) (Moderate)
Depth: 25 km
Date: 24 Oct 2012
Origin Time: 0045 UTC
Latitude: 10.3 N
Longitude: 85.38 W
Location: Costa Rica

2. EVALUATION

This earthquake happened near coastal region of Costa Rica. ITEWC
INCOIS will monitor sea level changes near epicentral region and
report in case of tsunami threat.


3. ADVICE

This bulletin is being issued as advice. Only national/state/local authorities
and disaster management officers have the authority to make decisions regarding
the official threat and warning status in their coastal areas and any action to
be taken in response.

NO DESTRUCTIVE WIDESPREAD TSUNAMI THREAT EXISTS BASED ON
HISTORICAL EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI DATA.

HOWEVER - EARTHQUAKES OF THIS SIZE SOMETIMES GENERATE LOCAL
TSUNAMIS THAT CAN BE DESTRUCTIVE ALONG COASTS LOCATED WITHIN
A HUNDRED KILOMETERS OF THE EARTHQUAKE EPICENTER. AUTHORITIES
IN THE REGION OF THE EPICENTER SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS
POSSIBILITY AND TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION.

THIS WILL BE THE ONLY BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THIS EVENT UNLESS
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE.
